When I went to Colo. from Wisc. to help my mother out. I was driving my little GEO when a big rig passed me, on the back of it was a sign that said ” OTR Driver wanted. We train” So I pushed that little car for all it was worth to just see the number to call. Needles to say that little car could not and would not catch up. When I got to my Moms I picked up the yellow pages and made a call to a TRUCK DRIVER SCHOOL. After 6 weeks I had my CDL.
And I thought that I would share with you out there some of my experiences. I hope that you will enjoy this time that I can spend with you all.
I am in my mid 50’s, enjoy the outdoors, camping, quiet times along the river, and s
ocial activities with my friends and family.
Most of the time I travel with my pug I call Fatboy whose real name is Spark Pug. He is a great companion, and really is wonderful having him with me. I am not sure how long I will be able to travel with Fatboy, as it appears that they will be phasing out these old Freightliners we have been driving to newer models over the next two years and once I am in the new ones, the pet policies will be voided and we will no longer be able to travel with our pets. But he does love to ride with me and keep me out of trouble. He loves to do very little to nothing, which includes a lot of sleeping, and his favorite spot is
the passenger seat. Fatboy wasn’t suppose to be the pug that I chose to travel with, in fact we have another one called Izzabelle who is our youngest and a female and I had high hopes for her, however, after a few long and stressful trips with her, she ju
st made it very very clear that she was not a “trucker dog” and if I had plans to make her one, our lives together were indeed going to be stressful!
Stay turned for more to come. Badrabbet and Fatboy adventures.
Would you believe that after the frig went down the tubes my Broadband card was next, still looking for the next thing to go, as they say “it comes in threes”
Just got home for the second weekend in a row, boy this does not happen too often. I guess that i had better enjoy it when I can
Well I do know that I will NOT be getting a new truck, they just put in an APU (auxiliary power unit) on it, helps stop the idling time. It will use 1-2 gallons in 10hrs instead of 10 gallons, that is a savings of $35. to $40 It has AC/heat to keep me a happy little camper and Fatboy loves it. It took them 24hrs to put it in the truck, had to stay in a motel for the night, they were real nice and let Fatboy stay to, there was a big sign that said NO PETS, but being that he is so small they let him in.
I am hearing that th
ere might be another trucker strike coming on or about the 5th of May, it is to be in Washington D.C. They are asking that the public join in on this one. Boycott buying any fuel, gas on that day. We all need to band together and let the powers know that we are getting tired of this. I know that the Government can not do anything about it, but they can pass laws that would stop the speculators from running up the price of oil. Stop the hedge founds groups from jacking it up so that they can make more from the back of the working class. (that would be you and me). We all need to start making calls to our gov. representatives, congressman, senators and let them know we are NOT happy with them and that we all would like them to work on making the changes that we as the people would like. To hear that some people think it is because we are in Iraq is why the fuel is so high. Just blows me away. When it is the richer getting richer off the backs of the working class, and these people are right here on Wall Street. Soon there will be only two classes of people, RICH and POOR, no middle class at all.
Sorry that I got on a soap box about this. You do not want me to go into politics and the dummies that are running for the head office. I just know that I am tired of all the empty promises and leis from them all.
More to come.

Well it has been a long week, a lot of short runs, just little over 2000 miles. I guess that fright has been soft for some time now, and it is starting to show.
Fat Boy is at home now, had to go to the vet and have a claw worked on, it was growing into the pad. He is doing better now, hope to have him back in the co-pilot seat next week. Hey he did lose some weight, dropped 4 pounds, better then what I can say for myself.
Rain rain, it seems to be doing a lot of that this last 2 weeks, would love to see the sun for more then 6 hrs at a time.
I am on my way to Buffalo NY for my next drop, picked up in New Philadelphia OH, cardboard. Before that I dropped off a load of Beer in KY (44,352 pd) Man thats a lot of beer.
I have been hearing on the radio about the strike that is going on with the Owner Opps. Hope that they can get something done , most of the problem seems to be with the brokers, they are keeping to much of the fuel surcharges, and fuel taxes. $4.00 pus a gallon, man that is to much. I don’t know what they can do about it.
I have kicked my truck down to 60 mph to try and help out the comp. Stopped running my truck when I do not have to, hope this will help when it comes time for safety bonus. I might need it for the new frig that I am going to need to replace the one that just stopped working, not real happy about that. Did not have it for more 6-7 months. The only good thing about is that I did not get to a Walmart to fill it up.
Been hearing through the grape vine that we are going to be getting new trucks in a mouth or two. That will be nice, just hope that I will have the room that I am going to need to put all of my stuff in it. I am looking forward to getting a new truck, have 324,000 miles on this one and it is only a 06.
Here is some more info as to what is going on with fuel.
